As far As what I have learnt till date about this standard is that it targets to save space and reduce complexity in understanding the aviation documents.
Let me break it down for you all. We have same procedures say for eg replacement of certain component in AMM and CMM. This is nothing but just duplication of data which is used in different places for the same purpose.
To avoid this S1000d is brought into picture which is a one stop shop for all maintenance documents. Only one task is created and it is used everywhere I.e. in line, workshop,etc. Space saved and accessing the data simplified... How wonderful right!!
